High Purity Zinc and Zamak Alloy Ingot Production

Manufacturing Process

Four controlled steps from raw material to ingot.

Step 1

SHG raw material

LME-registered Special High Grade zinc, 99.995% minimum, is the base metal.

Step 2

Controlled electric melting

Low-frequency induction furnaces with tight temperature control limit zinc loss and oxidation.

Step 3

Alloying and spectro test

Aluminium, magnesium and copper are added. A spectrometer keeps lead, cadmium and tin within limits.

Step 4

Water-cooled casting

Filtered alloy is poured into water-cooled moulds to give clean, low-dross ingots strapped in 1 tonne bundles.

Where it is used

Key downstream manufacturing sectors reliant on pure zinc and Zamak alloys.

Precision die casting

Zamak 3 is the standard alloy for high-speed hot-chamber die casting of thin-walled parts with stable dimensions.

Automotive hardware and locks

Zamak 5 is stronger and harder, for door handles, lock parts, wipers and fuel pump parts.

Hot-dip galvanizing

SHG zinc is melted to galvanize steel pipes, towers, fasteners and sheet metal against corrosion.

Door and cabinet hardware

Decorative door handles, hinges, window fittings, mortise locks and bathroom accessories.

Zippers and garment accessories

Zipper sliders, belt buckles, rivets and footwear trims with a smooth finish.

Electrical and electronics housings

Shield boxes, connector shells, switchgear handles and heat-dissipating enclosures.
